Somerset Gear Change Linkage

Hi Folks,

Could someone tell me what the distance should be between the cross shaft and C leaver of a Somerset’s gear linkage? The manual does not say what the distance should be it only mentions you adjust it using the adjustment rod.

I cannot select reverse gear and want to be sure the mechanical linkage is adjusted correctly before focusing on the change speed cable. The linkage had been dismantled by the previous owner and not assembled properly because it came apart while driving one day.

If anyone has any tips on how to adjust the gear linkage and speed cable to obtain all gears successfully I would very much appreciate it.
