ParticipantHi, yes, there is one smaller core plug on the back. It is partially covered by the sheet metal between the engine block and the gearbox. At least on my Devon 1949. Last year I also changed the core plugs but I temporarily fixed this smaller one with epoxy because I didn’t want to remove the engine.

ParticipantThank you for the advice. Unfortunately, these are not screws but nuts. They have an internal thread.

ParticipantHello Mike,
thank you for the advice. In the workshop manual, I found only the version where the engine is lifted with the help of a special device (mounted directly on the engine head). They didn’t mention the big eyes. That’s why I was unsure. The new plugs have already arrived, hurray for the repair!
Many thanks

ParticipantHi Mike,
thank you very much for the information and advice. I’ve seen them labeled as frosted on the internet, so I used that label. I’m not an expert and just an amateur trying to keep my old lady alive. I have one more question. Two large eyes are mounted on the valve rocker cover. They are intended for pulling out the engine or the engine can only be pulled out using a spec. tool according to the manual? Thanks again and have a nice day.

ParticipantHi Peter,
Thank you very much for your help. I once again dismantled the carburetor and cleaned it thoroughly in an ultrasonic cleaner. I exchanged all the seals, aligned the flange. I sealed the bigger inequalities with silicone. The engine works great like a Swiss watch. 🙂
Now the fuel tank is leaking. 🙁
But it’s life. 🙂
ThanksJiri

ParticipantHi Peter,
thanks for your advice, I’ll try again to check it out jets. Repetition is the mother of wisdom. In a while I will be able to do it even blindly. There’s too much air or little fuel. Thanks, I’ll check it out once more.
Regards
Jiri
