    Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could help? I had to change the head gasket yesterday. I was a bit apprehensive about doing it as I’ve never done it before, but it went fairly smoothly, until I tried to put everything back together.

I’ve put the cylinder head back on, but the problem now seems to be with locating the push rods back where they’re supposed to go. I’ve dropped them down though the cylinder head, but they don’t feel like they’re locating into anything and I just feel that the whole thing with them isn’t right. They don’t seem to go in straight, then if I move them about sometimes they drop even further down. One dropped right down through the hole for it and ended up lower than the top of the cylinder head. I had to use needle nose pliers to get it back out. I’ve then tried refitting the rocker shaft and find that I can’t get the push rod cups to locate into the rockers.

The push rods are fine i.e. not bent or anything, but something is definitely amiss. I’ve also tried slowly turning the engine with the handle and only one of the push rods moves. It’s driving me crazy and I really wanted to put the engine back together today.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks

    Paul
