On my Somerset engine the ignition vacuum advance and retard pipe is connected to the Distributor at one end and to a threaded union on the Zenith carb at the other.

I’ve just noticed that there is what looks like a hollow bolt or stud further down on the inlet manifold that also looks like it could  be the take off for the adv. Ret. Pipe.

so my question is, where should the end of the pipe connect to? The carb or the manifold?

    Thanks, Mike.

BTW, the hollow, open bolt would account for why I couldnt obtain a decent idle/tick over.
