Hello I bought an A40 Somerset last October, but I have been busy restoring another car, that has now gone so I can get down to the A40 again .When I bought the car it ran well and the mechanics were good, the body was solid, but the paint work was awful. The car had been painted many many times and most of the paint was peeling off.I decided to remove all of the paint and do a bare metal respray.Ive done this in the past, and it isn
t an easy or pleasant job.I found the good quality stripper I bought had little effect as there were so many coats on the car,so I stripped it with wire rotary brushes in an angle grinder.I have now given it a couple of coats of primer and started to flat it down before another coat.I`ll let you know how thing go .Looking at the paperwork with the car,a lot of money was spent on it by one owner,Don Cambell I think I read his signature. If he is still in the club he may be pleased ,the car is being restored Len Cottam
