The Austin Ten H.P. – like the Austin 8 H.P., was introduced in 1939, though there had been previous Austin Cars with the ‘Ten’ nomenclature introduced earlier in the ’30s. It was a 4-door saloon, similar in look to the ‘New’ 8, and Twelve H.P. models.

The Ten had an 1125cc, 32bhp engine, and as well as the saloon there was a short-lived tourer version. The chassis with running gear was available separately for the addition of specialist bodywork and many Ten models (some 45,000 examples) were produced during WWII, including the well-known 10 hp Utility or ‘Tilly’. It was also produced as a 10 cwt Van.

Production ceased in 1948.
